Pest Control at AO Farington Cricket Ground

As a brand-new cricket and training complex, AO Farington Cricket Ground required a comprehensive commercial pest control programme to be installed from the outset.

The site includes kitchens, food storage and eating areas, greenkeepers’ facilities and extensive external areas, all of which present different potential pest risks.

Rather than responding to an existing infestation, the aim was to introduce preventative rat control, mouse control and insect monitoring before pest activity had the opportunity to become established.

Bawcro Pest Control carried out the initial pest control installation across the new facility, placing monitoring equipment in key risk areas both internally and externally.

The installation included:

• 4 external rat traps positioned around the perimeter and higher-risk outdoor areas.
• 2 rat monitoring boxes installed within the greenkeepers’ storage areas.
• 15 mouse monitoring boxes positioned throughout areas where food is stored, prepared or eaten.
• 3 insect monitoring units installed within the kitchen.
• A planned inspection programme covering all monitoring points and key internal areas.

Following the initial installation, Bawcro now attends the site every two months to inspect the equipment, check for signs of pest activity and maintain the monitoring programme.

AO Farington Cricket Ground now has a structured preventative pest control system in place from the very beginning of the facility’s operation.

The installation provides coverage across external areas, greenkeepers’ storage, kitchens and other food-related areas, helping Lancashire Cricket identify pest activity at an early stage and maintain appropriate controls.

Regular two-monthly visits also provide ongoing oversight as the new training and cricket complex develops and becomes more heavily used.
